Pelton Fell

A Memory of Pelton Fell.

My mother lived in Pelton Fell until she left to come to London where I live. Her father was Isaac Redpath. He was a pit deputy at the colliery. My mum is dead now but she said her dad was well known and respected in his community. During the Blitz and the doodlebugs of the Second World War my mum took us kids to stay with her mum and dad at Whitehill Terrace. I don't remember the earlier time but I have recollections of 1944/45. I went to school at Rosemary Primary School. I enjoyed the time in Pelton. My mum's sisters were staying there with their kids. We used to play and "fight" together

Does anyone remember Mr Redpath?

I went to pelton roseberry school and I knew a colin redpath.Would he be any relation.I was born in mission row newfield in 1941 and lived there till I was 15 then I moved to stoke on trent when my dad went to work in the pits in stoke after the closure of the local pits in pelton fell and waldridge.I had a paper round that took in pelton fell and It finished at grange terrace. I received 10 shillings a week for that round which took nearly 2hrs. I have very fond memories of roseberry school (the old one) as all of my mothers brothers and sisters went their. We had an old Teacher called katie bowman who loved telling us kids that she taught their moms and dads. Must go now chores need doing at 78 years old.
