A Memory of Perivale.
Hi , we moved to Devon Close Perivale in the early to mid 60’s . I remember the names of some friends who lived at Devon Close -Neil & Jimmy Peterson , Diane & Stephen Dolphin, Pierre Barroso , Trevor Witney , . There were many others with just a few years in age between us. I attended Perivale Junior School my teacher was Miss Tunstall.
I remember siting the 11 plus and got accepted to Ealing Grammar School. Most of my friends went to Elliot’s Green Northolt but I soon made new friends , some of whom lived in Perivale , notably John Beattie who lived in the next Road and Graham Long . I caught the bus each day from Alperton bus station to Ealing Broadway.
I remember the Co op , Martins, Orts the bakers and In particular Barclays Bank In Bilton Road where I witnessed a bank robbery while passing by.
We moved away in 1975. The years I spent in the area and at school were enjoyable and I felt very safe. How the world has changed !!!!
