Roots
A Memory of Pontyberem.
My father was born here and I have many relatives buried in the graveyard at Capel Ifan. I like to visit and spend time remembering, imaging them.
As a child we visited every year staying with family. Jack Henry's small shop with its goody bags, Emlyn's Emporium where he sold clothes. The British Legion (the old cinema where my aunt had worked) was where I quite likely supped my first beer - now a CKs supermarket.
My parents moved back here after retiring living opposite the house my father was born in. I feel a strong bond with the village I've been visiting for nearly 60 years.
