Memories Of The Close Primrose

A Memory of Primrose Valley.

My father built a caravan just after the war, we took it to Primrose Valley in 1946 and sited it in The Close after negotiating the rent with Mr Smart who was the manager, also the same family as the shop owner. I am sure it was the first new caravan on the site after the war. As a young boy I had my early morning wash at the tap in the middle of The Close. We used the Smart's shop and the small amusement arcade. The swimming pool was not in use in the early years. There were no caravans on the cliff tops.
What memories!

I am told Mr. Spink was the site manager and not Mr Smart.
I lived at Greencroft opposite the farm during about 1947 to 1952. We lived next door to Horace & Iris Smart. They had a son Tony who was about my age. They ran the shop and coffee bar. We would play together and often Bobby Twigg joined in. She lived along the same road. Her father was the Doctor. It was a beautiful place then. My memories seem to be of one long summer. Hardly and caravans and we all knew each other. Our parents never knew where we were but it was a very safe place. The cliffs were full of Cowslips and Primroses. Happy days!
I can remember just whereabouts you lived I remember Tony perhaps our paths crossed.
We visited th site one day 3 years ago.
Bring back the old days.
