Radstock

A Memory of Radstock.

Sometime in the in the late 1970s, I decided to go on a walking holiday, to follow the line of the old Somerset & Dorset Railway track.
I caught a bus from London Victoria to Bath, and started my walk from there.
I had to use my compass to find my way out of Bath on foot, as of course all of the road signs were for traffic, and not very direct!
One of my over-night stops was at Radstock.
Initially I thought that I would pitch my small tent on the track-bed, but as I noticed tyre marks, I thought that this was not such a good idea, so erected my tent on the grass verge, adjoining the road, and under a street light.
Much safer, I thought, but the inside of my tent was illuminated all night long!
