I loved living in Pen-y-dre. I remember there being a see saw thing in the classroom and waited all day eagerly waiting my turn, I was heartbroken when it was time to go home and I was still waiting my turn. The cinema on the right was the venue for our Saturday morning adventures. 3d to get in, all sweets half normal price. Next to the cinema is the hardware store. Further up on the left is the old toyshop and newsagents ( I used to do a paper round for them). Finally, about half way up on the right is the street that leads to the park.

I lived in Nursery Crescent 1950-1970. I remember Tyvies chip shop, Hill St, also Ben Johns shop where my mum would send me down to buy a cheap! ham bone. Also Planation and Forge Crescent. I think that the Hillman Imp in the picture belonged to my mother. The car is parked outside the old surgery and library. She was Nurse Llewela Jones and she was district nurse in Rhymnry until her retirement.
