The Shops I Remember
I think the photo must have been taken in 1961 or 1962, as the "new" or "top" shops are there; the original parade from the 1930s are taller than the later ones which can be seen at the top of the hill. From left to right, ...Read more

I was born in Netley Abbey in 1962. My dad and uncle were joint managers of Netley F.C. who had their ground at the rec down by the waterfront. I was only 11 when my uncle died and 12 years old when my dad died so the memories I ...Read more

Re. Where's Our Susan?
I was looking at the old Co-op photo of Widnes. I was amazed when I read about Susan. I too lived in South Street. I lived at number 4. It's been many years but I'm almost certain I know you all! Lol! By the way my name is Charlie I was 6 in 1960.

Dating The Photo Of Church Street
Referring to the shot of Church Street, I would say that the date of the photo is more 1949 rather than 'c.1950'. On the hoarding next to the shop two films are advertised. "Whispering Smith" and "The Accused" both ...Read more

The Three Pilchards
You are probably referring to the "Three Pilchards" pub and this photo is not that pub. It is a house a little further up from the pub. Your picture is that of a house. The Three Pilchards (which is still a pub) was for a number of years in the 1990s in the ownership of my close family.

Searching For Members Of The Knowles Family
Calling Roger Knowles I am searching for family rather than having a memory. My mother was born Marjorie Knowles in 1903, sixth child of Christopher William and Hannah Law of Burton. Her grandfather ...Read more

The Cattle Market
The wooden railings to be seen in this photo is the old Epping cattle market where the animals were sold on market days. There is a memorial/water fountain still standing which would have originally been in the middle of the cattle market at the church end of Epping High Street.

Machen Forge Blackweir Cardiff
My grandmother ran a pub called the Machen Forge in Blackweir and my mother has told me about when she was a young girl growing up there. The canel ran along the side of the pub. I would love to know if there are any photos of it.
