Shere 1958-67
I would travel with my father Bunny Smith from The Black Horse, Gomshall to the bank in Shere on a very regular basis. I believe I can also remember visiting the telephone exchange. Knowing I loved riding in the XK120 he would then suggest we take the long way home up through the leafy lanes towards Peaslake sometimes visiting friends on our way. Janie and Geoffrey Hayes, the Dutton family and Claytons. I would also ride my pony, Polly Flinders, from Gomshall to Shere to the farrier situated next to Olwen's hairdressers. Oh how I enjoyed the ride home cross country..... I believe the Kindergarten was located behind Olwen's where I was taught by a sister or daughter of the actor Donald Pleasants. Happy memories of wonderful Surrey where my heart still belongs...
