More about this scene
Spennithorne is situated just to the south-east of Leyburn. Part of the church was built from stone taken from Jervaulx Abbey after the Dissolution. The tower dates from the 14th century, and the chancel from the 17th. In the graveyard is a Russian cross taken from Sebastopol by Sir C Van Straubenzee.
