Stamford, Brooke's Court 1922

More about this scene
This passageway, which now runs from St Mary's Street down into the car park beside the meadows, formed one of a tight network of passages and closes which provided cramped tenement accommodation in this part of the town (see bottom left-hand corner of AF54982, page 8). Most were demolished in the late 1950s, but part of Brookes Court survives. The establishment on the right is Barton's Restaurant, an offshoot from the bakers shop on St Mary's Street (72309, page 44, right). By the 1950s it had become Ye Olde Barn, and it is still a restaurant today.
