More about this scene
Now pedestrianised, this is the main shopping street of Stamford. Woolworth's have expanded to take over the Pine Apple Pub (right), a most unusual name for a pub. Stead & Simpson's are next door to what was Maypole (left) but now is the Edinburgh Wool shop, and Walkers Books are now beyond in what was Parrish & Son, clothiers. The Halifax Bank reconstructed the historic building next door to Parrish in 1982 and did a good job.
