Co Op Mitcham Lane

A Memory of Streatham.

I grew up in Aldrington Rd in the flats 55 Shenstone Hse , I was born in 1959 and worked from the age of 13 till I was 16 as a Saturday boy in the co op butchers in mitcham lane (1972-1975) my boss was called Pete he lived in New Malden what a fantastic fella , he took me under his wing and gave me a chance , I then joined the Royal Navy and left London for good. But my memories of the time were all happy ones . I went to Eardly Rd primary school then went to Hillcroft Secondary School in Tooting that the amalgamated with Bec Grammer and was then called Ernest Bevin Secondary Modern.

I remember summers spent in the tooting Bec lido swimming pool, fishing tooting Bec common, both lakes one opposite the mental hospital the other on the main lake. Happy days .
