Cricket In The Village
A Memory of Timperley.
When I was very small I used to go to the 'Hare and Hounds' with my father and two older brothers. I would sit on the wall opposite the hotel and watch Cyril Washbrook score sixes! I would have a lemonade whilst my father and brothers had something stronger. I have great memories of sunny summer Sundays. On the other side of the main road there was a 'filling station' owned by a blind man, and there was a beautiful small piece of garden maintained by my grandfather into his eighties. I was born 1944.
