Uplyme, The Old Mill c.1900

More about this scene
This view of the northern extremity of the borough is from a meadow on the west side of the River Lim. On reaching the Old Mill, the footpath across the fields from Lyme becomes a double-hedged dirt track through a carpet of wild garlic into Uplyme village. 17th-century buildings and the wooden paddles of a mill-wheel are preserved in a thatched time-warp setting. There has been a corn mill on this site from Anglo-Saxon times, as part of a manor that belonged to Glastonbury Abbey.
