This image is a Reference Print: it has not been shown on our website before as it has not been optimised and therefore may not meet the quality standards we require for use in our normal product range. However, we understand that this image could be potentially important for genealogical, local history or architectural research and so we are showing it on the website for on-line research only. The photo may be available to buy, but needs to be checked and optimised before you can place an order.

Why are these different? All 300,000 photographs in The Frith Collection have been scanned, but as the photos were taken over a 110 year period on a wide range of glass & film negatives, using different photographic processes, every image has to be checked and optimised, before we make a print for a customer.

A Selection of Memories from Whittington

For many years now, we've been inviting visitors to our website to add their own memories to share their experiences of life as it was, prompted by the photographs in our archive. Here are some from Whittington

Sparked a Memory for you?

If this has sparked a memory, why not share it here?

My first 14 years or so were spent at Whittington and Norton barracks Worcester born1950 I remember people like a Sargent Moore also close friends with mom n Dad were the Sandfords anyone who wants to share there history please do so, my name is Anthony Cunningham used to live in h block by the army school
My dad was in the ACC at Lichfield barracks. My brothers Michael and Peter & sister Helen and myself Pamela Morley all went to this school. This was my first and best school memories I have. Memories of us dancing and moving to music in the main hall. Photos sitting on benches in the play ground. Drawing Viking gods in the porta classroom, and going to tea at my teachers cottage and loving her roses in her cottage garden. But most of all I miss my friends Heather Kendrick & Amanda Lee.
Dad was in the South Staffs; we had many many happy years living in the barracks. I had 4 brothers then, sadly only two now. So many happy memories always lots to do, places to go and mischief to get up to. We used to go fishing in the canal at Whittington, playing on the common was always great fun... wish I could go back to those days.
It's all gone now, there are now private houses and a park where the school stood. What a school it was. When I was there I knew all the teachers there. What good times I had there. Boo hoo, it's all gone.
