A Memory of Widnes.

I remember the old quarry, where Quarry Court is now. It used to have straw or something similar in it, and me and my brother Alan used to jump off the top, into the quarry.

I remember playing in the quarry lots of times, it was next to Leathers farm, it had a huge house and loads of out buildings, I was at school (St Mikes) with the son John, over the years the quarry was slowly being filled with all kinds of rubbish, the thing that's sticks in my memory is we use to jump from a ledge down on to the soft straw and rubbish, and this particular time the straw was covering loads of soot that had been dumped by one of the few sweeps left in the town, when we jumped on the straw we were covered by clouds of soot, trouble when we got home, hard to explain,
