Willesden Green
A Memory of Willesden.
I lived in Willesden Green from when I was born on the 1st June 1953 (2 PARK AVENUE) until I got married in August 1974. I simply loved the area. The house I lived in used to be my Grandparent's. Both died in Park Avenue. My Grandfather died when I was 2 years old. My Grandmother died shortly after when I was about 4 years old. I lived with my parent & 3 brothers. The house was left to my dad and his 2 brothers. My Uncle Tony & his wife lived with us for a few years. They had 3 children which were born in Park Avenue - Eric, Christine & Patricia. It was a very sad day when they left. I think I was about 6 years old. I remember waving them good bye as they got in a taxi to get to London train station to take them to Glasgow to live. My Auntie Margaret was Scottish and had family there. We then had Tenants (Irish) for many a year living with us. My Mother also died in Park Avenue at the age of 52 in April 1975 the year after I got married. Life was quite simple then. Better, no worries. You don’t know what you miss till it’s gone. Love, Love Willesden Green.
