More about this scene

In 1877, John Player began making ready-rolled cigarettes. He had a flair for advertising and 'Player's Please' signs, such as the one affixed to the Post Office, were eventually to be seen in every village. All the company's cigarettes were made in Nottingham and, such was the productivity at the time of this photograph, they were paying tobacco duty at the rate of over £1m per day.

A Selection of Memories from Willington

For many years now, we've been inviting visitors to our website to add their own memories to share their experiences of life as it was, prompted by the photographs in our archive. Here are some from Willington

Sparked a Memory for you?

If this has sparked a memory, why not share it here?

We live in Sycamore Farm which you can just see on the right of this picture. The rest of Repton Road has certainly changed in the last 50+ years but Sycamore Farm is still there. I would be interested in any old memories/pictures that people have of Sycamore Farm. There must be a few in the last few hundred years since the original part of the house was built.
