Peter, how you doin. ?, Alan grant here, nice to hear your fond memories of the old days, prefabs,Caly road,Putty Macmillan etc. Started work with Anderson Butcher in 1951, bottom of Caly
road, so remember most of your memories. Think there was a wee shop round the corner, Alexander St, cafe, pie and peas, Tony's maybe ? I Also seem to remember one of the chargehands in the butchers shop taking me into a pub in Caly road, on the right hand side and maybe halfway towards the Caly bar but danged if i can remember the name of it, can you Peter ?
Remember the pub which was demolished early fifties replaced by council housing. Racked my brain but can’t remember the name of it. My stepfather used to frequent it after going to dog racing at the local track. Regards putty McMillan we got on of cherry s pups. Soon after our house at 26 Stenton dr was burned down no one injured but gave our greyhound pup back to putty for safekeeping until we were rehoused. Unfortunately it ran out on to the road was knocked down and killed. Just another tragedy. We were rehoused in new coldness scheme after staying with a relative in mill bank st. Any more I will try to answer.
Bye for now. Peter
