More about this scene

This view shows the Market Place, with the A689 to Crook on the right and the B6297 to Tow Law on the left. Wolsingham has had a long association with the Roman Catholic faith. There was a time when Catholic priests took their lives in their hands as they travelled Weardale to minister to the faithful. In 1644, Father John Duckett was unfortunate enough to be arrested while on the road between Wolsingham and Tow Law. Duckett was tried and executed.
