Brenda Stevens
A Memory of Wooburn Green.
In 1938 my dad was a farm labourer in Wooburn common. He had a row with the farmer and got the sack, we moved down to Wooburn Green in a little cottage by the side of Pedleys yard.. They ran the post office.. We were 5 children , 4 girls (Brenda Joan Bet and Peg and 1 boy Donald.. Dad went to work in Broom and Wades in High Wycombe. I worked at Soho Paper mill until the war started, and then went to work at the Screw Factory making parts for bombs. .The American soldiers were stationed at Dropmoor. They would pick up us girls from Wooburn in a lorry and take us to their dances (they had good food)
I married a Wooburn lad called Vic Stevens. and had two daughters. I am now nearly 99 and living in FlackwellHeath with one of my daughters
