The post office and the two houses to the right were originally one house of c1520. The next range to the left is also 16th-century; it contains Addisons' shop, which started in 1889. Behind the tree is the arched entrance to the stable yard of the former Swan Inn, which still has a painted sign 'Ring for Ostler'.

My late father-in-law's father used to live in the cottage next to the Post Office, until he died. My father-in-law inherited the cottage, and my husband and I spent glorious holidays there, and lots of long weekends with our children, from around 1965 until my father-in-law passed away in the 1980s.
