My grandparents lived on the corner of Browning Avenue and Washington Road. Visiting in the '60s and '70s I remember that there was an Air Raid Shelter in the back garden, which was basically a concrete shed. Were these in all the gardens? and do any of them still exist?
I was Baptised, confirmed and married at St. Philip's Church. I also was a Brownie and a Guide and a Guider. Also a Sunday school teacher.
I was very saddened at the news that the church had been pulled down.
We lived at 23, Merrilands Road. My parents lived there for over 40 years.
