More about this scene
Just behind the camera at the north end of the town lies Yarm Bridge, reminding us that for centuries the River Tees was navigable; Yarm operated as an important port, until it was superseded later by Stockton and Middlesbrough. The market held in the High Street was widely famous, particularly for horse trading and for the selling of dairy products, especially cheeses.
