In this, the most interesting of all the houses in York, a young apprentice plumber stated that while he was working in the cellar, he heard a trumpet playing; then he saw an army of Roman soldiers marching, but as if on their knees. When the cellar floor was dug up, the remains of a Roman road was discovered where the soldiers' feet would have been!
