Situated along Ayston Road, to the north of the town, it was bought in 1895 by C R Haines who added a wing. Threatened with closure in 1925, it has survived and flourished ever since. Additions can be seen to the left. At that time, the opposite side of the road (right) did not live up to the splendour of Meadhurst and Farleigh.
