Christmas Deliveries: If you placed an order on or before midday on Friday 19th December for Christmas delivery it was despatched before the Royal Mail or Parcel Force deadline and therefore should be received in time for Christmas. Orders placed after midday on Friday 19th December will be delivered in the New Year.

More about this scene

Designed by John Tweed, the statue was presented to the town of Whitby by Gervase Beckett MP in 1912. It stands on West Cliff. Cook has a map in one hand and dividers in the other, and as the sculptor intended, he looks out to sea, his eyes on the distant horizon. The cannon in the background (to the left of the statue) was later moved to East Crescent.

Rest & Recuperation During World War Ii
Throughout our childhood our Mother talked about Whitby. During WWII she served as a gunner (Ack Ack girl) operating a predictor machine in the ATS. Her unit started protecting Felixstowe docks, then Sutton Coldfield covering the Midlands manufacturing. Later on Anglesey to cover Liverpool and the vital shipping lanes, lastly in Glasgow to protect ship building on the River Clyde. During this time ...see more

Early Days 1956

Wonderful Experience spent my sixteenth birthday at the school, Memories fade, I believe my house master was a Mr Morrell? My badge was all blue, I had to go to his room for my assessment sat in front of a blazing log fire. Dock End
In the above picture, the two cobles in the background are Jean (right) and Valerie (the smaller one), and the one with a man on the foredeck is Enterprise WY.47 my Dad's coble, and that is Dad painting the foredeck. Enterprise was built as a open coble in Amble, Northumberland in 1947 and Dad had her half decked in Whitby by Will Clarkson who was a well known boat builder and whose yard was further up the river. Despite over 20 years’ work on the archive, these scans have still not been individually checked and may prove to be damaged, faded, or not of sufficient quality to ever be offered in our full product range. However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
