More about this scene
The Dog & Partridge sign stands in the middle of the green; the pub is still trading, and it is the Official Monster Raving Loony Party's headquarters. Yateley is near the Berkshire border. In 1950, 4,000 people lived here. It became a town in 1975, and now has 28,000 residents. Nearby, St Peter's Church was set fire to in 1979 - the timber porch, built in 1500, survived.
