On the right, above the street, is the sign of the Royal Oak. At about this time, the occupier was W J Pilbeam. Opposite are Timothy White and Taylors Ltd at 62 High Street, and Smeeds, who were wine and spirit merchants. Woolworth's arrived in the town between the wars, and have now moved further west along the High Street.
