More about this scene
Caption for Andover, the Park c1965: This quaint scene beside the aviary yielded to a new roundabout where Eastern Avenue/Newbury Road crosses the old coach road to London, New Street/Vigo Road. Birds still sing in the aviary, behind which a well-equipped children's playground has been installed. On the right, the narrow strip of park beyond the trees is the Common Acre, where the archers of Andover practised before going into battle under Henry V at Agincourt in 1415.
