More about this scene
By 1830 the name Hothamton had been dropped in favour of Bognor. The High Street was part of the original lane which ran through the old village to the sea. The old library on the right (later named Webster and Webb) was built in the 1820s by Robert Knapton; it was visited by Princess Augusta Sophia, daughter of King George III. It was known as The Coffee House in 1983.
