Boston, High Street 1899

More about this scene
The High Street, across the Witham via Town Bridge rebuilt in 1913, presents a mainly late Georgian character with mostly three-storey frontages to the pavement edge, but many of these conceal earlier buildings of medieval, Tudor and Stuart Boston. Several of those shown here have been demolished and rebuilt, including Wilson's on the right, but the oriel window in the middle distance on No 18 survives.
