More about this scene
Corbridge is a small town with a traumatic history. Situated on one of the main crossing points of the Tyne, Corbridge was occupied by the Scots in 1138 and burnt by them on at least three occasions; by William Wallace in 1296; by the Bruce in 1312; and by David II in 1346. There was a time when Corbridge held a weekly market, but this petered out as the town declined following the Civil War.
