Nostalgic memories of Farnham Common's local history

Share your own memories of Farnham Common and read what others have said

For many years now, we've been inviting visitors to our web site to add their own memories to share their experiences of life as it was when the photographs in our archive were taken. From brief one-liners explaining a little bit more about the image depicted, to great, in-depth accounts of a childhood when things were rather different than today (and everything inbetween!). We've had many contributors recognising themselves or loved ones in our photographs.

Why not add your memory today and become part of our Memories Community to help others in the future delve back into their past.

I think we moved to Farnham Common in about 1967, my parents took over the family shops "Martin's Broadway Stores" we lived above the shops to start with, in a flat that was heated with green house paraffin heaters. was it 1968 that it snowed heavily ? I spent my youth in Farnham Common and have nothing but happy memories. We lived in an old house called Glenwood in Templewood Lane. In those days (The 1950's and 1960's) there were very few houses. As you turned the corner where The Grange Hotel was or perhaps still is, you could count the houses on two hands. I looked the other day on Google and saw that our house has not changed ...see more

My Family moved to the house to the left of the school gates in 1957, before the school was built. I lived there until 1965 when I married and moved to the USA. My brother went to this school, and I used to cut across the field to catch the bus to my school in Slough. I have many fond memories of growing up in Farnham Common, taking the dog for walks in Burnham Beeches, stopping at the bakery on the corner of Beeches ...see more
