More about this scene
In medieval times, Great Yarmouth was walled on three sides, with just the river side open. In modern times, long stretches of wall still remain, but before the heavy bombing of the Second World War there would undoubtedly have been more. Blackfriars Tower had a distinctive D-shaped section, and was built around 1340.
