This beautiful Tudor mansion was built at the end of the reign of Henry VIII by the successful lawyer Sir John Hynde, partly from materials salvaged when they pulled down the church of St Etheldreda in Histon. In 1756, the owners of the hall commissioned Capability Brown to lay out a park.

I was educated at Madingley Church of England School, our Principal and teacher was Gwen Ruddell M.B.E. a remarkable teacher. Educated at Cambridge University she was the school teacher and principal for the 28 local children aged 4 to 11, from approximately 1950 till 1980.
