New Malden, Malden Road c.1960

More about this scene
The police station (right) on the corner of Malden Road and Burlington Road was opened in 1892. The roadway just had a few large private houses, until developers inserted the shopping parades and widened the carriageway in the 1930s. The undertaker Frederick W Paine (right) has an apt name for that necessary trade.
