More about this scene

Literally just around the corner from the underground station is St Thomas's Church, designed by Romilly and Craze in an unspectacular suburban style in 1941, to serve the newly-arrived local community. The treeless frontage fails to raise any spiritual hope here, even with the spikey steeple added in 1965.

Sparked a Memory for you?

If this has sparked a memory, why not share it here?

Although I was working in Wales at this time, my parents still lived in Oakwood, and I was married at St. Thomas' in December 1969. I had previously gone to church and Sunday School here when I was still at home.
