A market was held here from 1154 until the 19th century. On the left is the corner of the brick-fronted manor house. The top of the church tower fell in 1829, which gave it a castle-like appearance. It was not restored until the 1960s. The absence of cars in the square might indicate a Sunday morning.

This photograph features someone sitting on a bench in the foreground of Orford Castle. It is a strong possibility that it is my Uncle Jim (James Ellis) Smy.
