By this date, Perranporth was becoming popular for bathing on account of its sandy beach. Pilchard fishing was also carried on, and a few boats are drawn up on the beach. Mining activities helped create the village, but the holiday trade really began to take off once the railway arrived in 1903. Penhale Point and Gull Rock are in the distance.
