More about this scene
The old town of Strood, on the west bank of the River Medway, was incorporated into Rochester in 1835. The 125- foot high keep of the Norman Castle and the tower of the Cathedral dominate this view of the crowded anchorage on a bend of the river, en route to its union with the Thames off Garrison point.
