Selsdon Vale

A Memory of Selsdon.

My father bought the pig farm known as Woodley in Selsdon Vale in 1951. I was four. I attended Selsdon Primary school until I was eleven when I moved to Riddlesdown. I really treasure my childhood memories as I had so much fun. During school holidays I would go out with my dad in his lorry to collect the pigswill from hotels, hospitals, etc. From all the articles I've read about Selsdon no one ever mentions Selsdon Vale. My name then was Lesley Willers. Does anyone remember me?

Yes I remember the pig farm.I lived in Selsdon about the same time as you and went to Selsdon Primary Miss Beyok, not sure that was the right spelling. She ran that school like clockwork. My Mum Pam was a cleaner there.
I lived in Ingham Close.I also attended Riddlesdown.
Hi Deborah, Just seen your post about Selsdon where you said you lived in Ingham Close around the time that Lesley Willers was at Selsdon Primary and the pig farm. I was living at 41, Ingham Road around that time but can't remember a Deborah but I do remember the Appleyards, Sharmans, Skirrows, Ringhams and Sisks who lived in the close. My sister Mary Munton went to Riddlesdown too, perhaps you knew her? Phil Munton
Hi, firstly have you read this? https://selsdon-residents.co.uk/resources/Gaz%20copy%20Green%20Fields.pdf
Do you know which roads are now where your pig farm was? I moved to Selsdon in 1978 to the development on the Dabners' piggery which became Ridge Langley behind Upper Selsdon Road. In 2009 I moved to Selsdon Vale, so I might live on your old farm, sorry! My house has a great view overlooking Selsdon Wood, which is why we bought it! It's a shame there's so little I can find on Selsdon Vale before its development, there are a few pictures of Selsdon Hill (O.F.Rd), but I'll keep on digging...
Here's an old map, do you see where you lived?
