At the time of this photograph, the fun fair belonged to Billy Butlin, and the Figure 8 was an exciting ride fifty years ago. Whether you tried the cockles, crabs, mussels, prawns, shrimps or whelks at the Oyster Bar (centre left) before or after you had the ride was entirely up to you. The Figure 8 has been replaced by a ride named Storm. The model yacht pond has shrunk, but is still there. It is all now owned by Bottoms Amusements. Again, what with the coats and caps the weather could not have been too warm.

Bad Memory

I can remember staying at rosemary house for 3 weeks. evey year with my older sisher and to brothers really didnt like the place and never add a understand why we was tuck there .i do now

Rosberry House

Me and my 3 sisters went here , late 70s early 80 can’t remember exactly, what I do remember was how we had to share baths and be checked for head lice , they wrote with black marker on our underwear , a colour and number , even while we was wearing them ,one of my sisters was next to me on the bottom bunk and her top bunk partner stole her pillar and I remember talking , asking my sister what’s wrong , the girl ...see more

60's Walsh's.

Walsh's in the 60s was a very happy time for me and I have great memories of when Mum and Dad,me Grandma and Grandad shared a caravan for a fortnight.The caravan was tucked away in the corner behind the arcade situated next to a ditch. I can always remember laying on the bed/settee listening to the bingo numbers being called and nodding off to the tones of ''top of the shop 90''.It always seemed an adventure fetching ...see more
