More about this scene
A different kind of horsepower can now be seen in The Strand. Left of centre, with the elegant portico, is the 1922 bus station building. The Ilfracombe railway from Junction station arrives on the left. Here was the site of Quay station, moved a few hundred yards along by the time this picture was taken. The Bell Hotel, referred to in the caption to photograph No 75164 on pages 42 to 43, can be seen on the extreme right.
