Christmas Deliveries: If you placed an order on or before midday on Friday 19th December for Christmas delivery it was despatched before the Royal Mail or Parcel Force deadline and therefore should be received in time for Christmas. Orders placed after midday on Friday 19th December will be delivered in the New Year.

Please Note: Our offices and factory are now closed until Monday 5th January when we will be pleased to deal with any queries that have arisen during the holiday period.

Church Road

A Memory of Bracknell.

One of the old houses - 'Gainsborough' was used as a doctors surgery in early 60's . the name lives on today with the Gainsborough doctors practice in Whitegrove Copse!
Down a short lane off Church Road ( over the left shoulder of the photographer) was a very dusty Scout/ Cubs hut used by 1st Bracknell - I used to come home filthy regardless of what the activities !
Having walked up from the station one followed a long painted white wall around the corner behind which lurked a mysterious ( to me anyway) house appropriately named ' White Walls'

Although I don't remember the name "Gainsborough", I do remember going there many times to see Dr. King and Dr. Wiggins. I believe Dr. King lived there as one time I went there with my father to see his rose garden. It was very big. This would be in the 1950s. Both doctors made home visits. Once my friend bit Dr. Wiggins when he tried to give her an injection. That was on a home visit. I believe he had an artificial leg. He walked in an odd manner. Later on the surgery was held temporarily in a house on the Binfield Road. The doctors must have rented a room in it as the patients had to queue outside as there was no waiting room. The house was near the smallholding on the corner of Shepherds Lane where pigs were kept.
