Memories Of Bradford 1943 1966

A Memory of Bradford.

memory of a very wealthy city. Beautiful shops- Brown Muffs, busbys, claydons, mathias robinson. Barclays bank international division was in Bradford but not in Leeds because the overseas dealings with all wool merchants and textile manufacturers meant foreign transfers and foreign money meant demands in expertise in the busiest city.
Sadly times as ever change but memories do not. It still however has its parks, open spaces and the wool exchange survived but sadly not the swan arcade- thats planners for you. The naff arndale centre has gone- good.

Comments & Feedback

Read your comment Christine, and sadly Bradford regarding planning has been run by total incompetents in the past and unfortunately present day, with there latest blot on the Bradford landscape called broadway shopping centre, Forster square should have remained an open space, and all that has happened is the true heart of Bradford shopping has moved to broadway and darley street, kirkgate, westgate ivegate have declined
