I Was At Port Regis 1972

A Memory of Broadstairs.

I can just about remember my time at the school, it was run by nuns, Sister Sheila rings a bell. I was there with my two brothers, Thomas Keefe and Pandy Keefe. I remember geting the cane for kissing a girl and sneaking down to the bread bins late at night. If anyone can remember us please get in touch.

Hello
Because I wrote a post using an old email address, i’m writing a new one !
My name was / is Rita Pilbrow and I was at Port Regis Broadstairs approx 1953-1955
It was THEN a residential Catholic Convent for delicate girls. A full Life got in the way of writing that book . But I plan to prioritise writing it Sept-April . Would you like to help me please with information of your visit at Port Regis or other Catholic schools and convents during 1950-1970 ?
We all know that many Catholic nuns were far from kind towards children during the 1940-1950’s and it seems it went on even in the 1960’s and 1970’s NOT all nuns performed evil deeds .. of course not. But too many did. On looking back - these cruel women might have been very unhappy as nuns . The Irish parents pushed their children into the Catholic Church and often into being a nun. Many were completely mislead .
I have heard from one lady who like me experienced horrific treatment , which has given us strong anxiety and problems with loving relationships. Separation anxiety and like.Obviously there were a few moments, when for example a celeb Mills presented us with a television ,which we were allowed to see half an hour now and then before we had to go to bed late afternoon , early evening . If you have good, bad or any experiences of Catholic schools and convents during these years
Please send me an email if it’s okay I ask you a few questions .
Thank You 🌼🍀lots !
Best Wishes / Rita Pilbrow
