More about this scene
Centre left at No 33 is the Green Dragon, a cider house, which closed in the late 1960s. On the right is the late 18th-century Weaver's House, which probably housed machinery for carding and spinning wool. It was bought by Harris's to store sawdust for smoking their bacon; their supplies came from W E Beint & Sons Ltd, whose sawmills at Studley were famous for making elm coffin boards and pit props for the mines in Wales. The Weaver's House was converted into flats in 1975.
