West Hill Lodge

A Memory of Dartford.

Does anyone remember West Hill Lodge, the house on the corner of Stanham Road and Dartford Road, with wonderful fake Elizabethan chimneys? I lived there from 1950 until 1961, when sadly my father sold it, with the two houses next door, to a property developer, and now you have a lot more houses around Acworth PLace. Mrs Acworth died in 1949 and it had been in her family for many years, I believe.

Hi, I lived at 8 Stanham Road from birth in 1946 to 55 and remember the large house on the corner. You must have a brother who I remember invited me in to the garden to collect conkers from nature trees in your garden. You may gage known one of my sisters Roger
Yes, my brother Jeremy was born in 1946. He now lives in Indonesia, but we had 3 or 4 chestnut trees and he did ask other boys to come round and collect conkers. I am 18 months younger than him. I don't recognise your surname, though both Jerry and I went to West Hill School until 1954, then I went to the convent. I'll ask him if he remembers. Thanks, Roger for remembering. Rosie
