More about this scene
The name of this village derives from 'dyke gate', referring to the control of water through sluices. The Manor House (left), formerly Ditcheat House, was built for Robert Hopton early in the 17th century. One of its stone mullioned windows has a pane painted with the arms of the Dawe family, the manor's later owners.
